Lower quality than the Hottest Party dance mat

Post Via amazon in Wii Accessories Review

Wii Dancing Mat
I bought this mat after buying Hottest Party DDR so that we would have a second mat for two-player fun. The mat quality is noticeably lower than the mat that ships with Hottest Party - it slips on a smooth surface such as hard wood flooring and the top tends to crinkle.

I made an alteration to the mat which reduced the slipping. I cut squares out of a yoga mat to fit the arrow squares and taped them to the underside of the mat. This not only helped with the skidding but also provided a tactile sensation so that it was easier to tell when your feet had gotten out of position.

The squares register moves effectively and overall it was a good purchase, especially after alteration.

happy dancing!

Sonic Speed

Post Via amazon in Wii Games Review

Sonic Riders Zero Gravity
A couple of years ago, Sonic The Hedgehog returned with its own need for hedgehog speed. With the surprise success of Sonic Riders for the Gamecube, Sonic really showed that he could finally shred his way to victory and stay with the competition of racing classics like Mario Kart. That was then, this is now. With the Nintendo Wii being one of the most popular video game systems on the market right now, Sonic tried his luck with Sonic&The Secret Rings, but unfortunately he fizzled into thin air. That also happened with Sonic&The Hedgehog for the Xbox 360 and Playstation 3, but that also worked. But with the Wii, Sonic has a lot to make up for this time, but does he deliver in Zero G again, or just a fall from grace?

Sonic Riders: Zero Gravity for the Nintendo Wii brings the surprising success of Sonic Riders from the Nintendo Gamecube in 2006, and tries to surf his way into victory. The gameplay doesn't seperate itself completely from the original. The game features 16 different courses, and faster gameplay, as you compete against others for the first time online with the Wi-Fi gameplay. The graphics look great and bring in a great appeal for fans, as well as the music. There are also a few control options that unfortunately lack in the gameplay. You can manuver Sonic, Tails and others with the Wii Remote which sadly makes the game a bit tougher to handle, as well as the control with the nunchuck controller too. Thankfully, there is another way. You can also use the Nintendo Gamecube controller as the third option, which works much better in the gameplay. There are several racers to unlock like Dr. Robotnik, Amy, and Kncukles, which you could through the Grand Prix and Story modes, but the story mode feels a little bit cocky as you play along with the game.

All in all, Sonic Riders: Zero Gravity isn't a bad game, but the mechanics of the Wii controller could've been easier to manuver. It is a good game for those who loved the original Sonic Riders, but it isn't a actual must buy for the Wii. If you're looking for a fast racer, I suggest you await for the upcoming Mario Kart Wii instead.

Excellent game at a shovelware price

Post Via amazon in Wii Games Review

Mercury Meltdown: Revolution
If you enjoy maddeningly difficult puzzle games, Mercury Meltdown is a steal at the shovelware price of $[...]. As others have said, the graphics are not super detailed, but the controls are dead-on and there are over 100 levels, as well as a number of unlockable extras.

Keep in mind that although you _can_ play with more than 1 player (after unlocking some minigames), the single player game is really where the bulk of the game play is.

Please buy this game to reward good publishers selling great games at reasonable prices!

Great Value - No multiplayer though

Mercury Meltdown: Revolution
I have been enjoying this game since receiving it for Christmas. At only 20 bucks it's a great deal. The graphics and sound are nice and the gameplay is fun and challenging enough without being too hard. I was disappointed that when I managed to unlock the party games which I figured were multi-player; they are actually single player. Still, a great game and value.

Fun little game, a little difficult for children--4 1/2 stars

Post Via amazon in Wii Games Review

Mercury Meltdown: Revolution
In Mercury Meltdown you have to navigate your blob of mercury through a maze, around obstacles like pushers, gravity blenders, spinners, and switches, to the finish line. While making sure your blob is the right color to pass through doors and the same color as the finish line, you have to avoid schizoids, mercoids, spectroids, and jerkoids. They'll eat your blobs of mercury. If you loose too much mercury you fail the mission.

We bought this game for our 9 year old son, who loves puzzles. According to him, he likes it because of the challenging levels he has to navigate. He also finds the party games, that are unlocked when you collect a certain number of bonuses, fun. The feature that lets you save or replay certain levels has been a fun source of entertainment as well. He does think the game can be frustrating at time because of some of the obstacles.

I have not played the game, but have watched him play it quite a bit. It's actually very fun to watch and has kept me on the edge of my seat watching him make tight turns. However, I do have one `warning' if you're buying it for children. According to Toy's R Us' website, the manufacture's recommended age is 6 (they recommend 8). Our 6 year old can not play this game. It requires too much concentration and patience. Our 9 year old struggles with patience and the fine motor skills needed to complete most levels. I highly doubt many 6 year olds can play it without a great deal of frustration. My son gets frustrated with it very easily. With enough encouragement he'll complete the most advance levels, but we have had a couple of occasions where we've asked him walk away because of his frustration. We found a couple of walk throughs online that have helped him through a couple of levels but for the most part it's pretty easy to figure out what needs to be done to complete a level.

Over all we've been very happy with this game and would buy it again. At 20.00 it's definitely worth the money.

Fun for kids

Petz Dogz 2
I'm the mom of 2 girls, 5 and 9 who got this game for Christmas.

To start with, basic reading skills are required. Important information is highlighted, and its possible to get the gist of what to do from the highlighted text, but having a reader helps a lot. Characters prompt you to go to specific areas to achieve various tasks. The storyline and gameplay are almost exactly the same as Petz Catz 2, so owning both is a bit repetitive unless you need to play as both a cat and a dog.

There are multiple layers of gameplay. You can change your dogz clothes, you can buy wardrobes for the town's inhabitants, you can unlock new patterns and colors by catching insects and digging up vegetables or flowers. There are mini games to unlock (which can then be played 2 player) But, mostly you need to follow the storyline, and work to save the magic hat from Ivlet.

As the previous poster mentioned, the slow dialogues get tiresome and there is no way to skip them. However, not too far into the game a magic creature appears who teaches you how to save. There are then save blocks (and later warp blocks) which can be used whenever you wish. They don't move, or disappear, or become unusable.

My girls feel that this game is excellent, great for any kid and expect long term enjoyment. However, as an adult, they have both nearly met the main objective in a little over a week of rainy vacation day playing. It's cute, its worth playing. You don't need both Catz and Dogz, and I wouldn't pay $50 for it. Amazon's price was great.

Wii Battery Kit - Colors May Vary
I purchased the original charge station and two of these for my 4 Wiimotes. I LOVE IT! I was sad that the original charger came with two boring gray covers... they should have given us two extra covers with other colors or at least sell the cover separately somewhere so that we can buy them if we don't like the colors we received.

I play with my Wii at least a few hours a day and only have to recharge my Wiimote once a week. It's a great product with very good value. GET FOUR!

Serious fun, but at a price.

No More Heroes
No More Heroes is the most stylish game to yet grace the wii. The action is fast, and fun without getting boring. The level design is wonderfully original. And the boss fights are among the best you'll ever have the pleasure to play. The only problem is getting there.

To afford the fantastic ranking missions you have to navigate through a huge, and largely empty, city to complete boring side jobs with no retry option. If you lose these often frusturating jobs you have to go back to the agency, re-apply, drive back to the mission site, and try again. this gets old fast.

But if you can ignore this minor issue you are in store for one of the most hardcore, visceral, and enjoyable games you will ever play.

Wii Are Happy Now..........

Post Via amazon in Wii Games Review

No More Heroes
This is the must play game for any Wii owner. The key factor in this (AWESOME) game is the amazing look it has. Sure it might look like another Killer 7 title but it's not, it's a much better experience. NO MORE HEROES has this GTA feeling to it, imagine that, GTA on the Wii. In fact you must play this game or people will think that you're not cool anymore and you don't want that to happen, do you?.

No More Heroes
If you guys have been waiting for a true mature videogame for the Wii and don't think remakes like RE4 Wii and Umbrella Chronicles are cutting it for you, No More Heroes is where you want to be.

Man this game is awesome and so much fun. Travis Touchdown is going to be among the most quoted videogame characters for the rest of 2008 and the over the top violence is just a blast.

The graphics are like Killer7 but the gameplay is much better and it never gets old swinging your wii-mote around decapitating the evil henchmen of the assassins. It's so totally worth you money!
