IT STINKS BIG TIME !

Post Via amazon in Wii Accessories Review

Wii Dancing Mat
Did you ever receive (e.g. in a goodybag for kids) one of cheapest Chinese all-plastic toys and noticed it's characteristic smell of lowest quality plastic? Now imagine a square yard of same quality plastic! I almost fainted the first time I just opened the box. And I'm the one in family that is most tolerable to the smell. I had to keep it in garage for 3 days before I could even try it. And after I tried it (for 10 minutes), my whole room was stinking for hours after (with all windows open). And, the best thing was, it did not even work.
I had the original mat that came with the game, and after this experience I bought another one from direct from Konami (a little more expensive). Don't take me wrong, for both of those if you put your nose right next to it and smell it, you can faintly smell the similar plastic smell. But the one we are talking about here, you could smell it from 100 yards away.

Better than people say.

Post Via amazon in Wii Games Review

Sonic Riders Zero Gravity
I bought this game not knowing any thing about it. I read a few reviews that said the controlls were a little diffucult, but you could use a gamecube controller to make it a little easier. So i bought it for the simple reason that a racing games are always fun. My opinian is that most people are not fare to this game because they are not patient enough to get used to the controlls. Now i won't lie to you the motion sensing controlls are a bit unrefined. It is a little difficult to get used the motion sensing but it is possible to use them. If you don't have a gamecube controller you can just simply use the d-pad on the Wiimote for controll. What i do is use the d-pad and motion sensing at the same time so i don't have to hold the remote completly level. Besides that the game is nearly perfect. One cool feature is the different boards: heavy characters have a bike where you can bust through walls. Lite characters have a glider that flies through rings, and the semi heavy characters grind rails. Now the game has a few flaws, what game doesn't? One is that their are eight courses for the sonic team and eight courses for the babylon rogues, most if not all babylon rogues courses are dark versions of sonic team courses. They do offer a few differnet challenges but thats about it. The missions are also a bit repettitive. All in all I consider this one of the better games for the Wii. A must have.

if anyone has trouble getting their wii to read the disc

Post Via amazon in Wii Games Review

Major League Baseball 2K8
save yourself some of the headache that I endured - after returning the first disc of this game thinking it was defective since my wii never would read it and then trying a replacement and having it do the same thing I finally realized that my wii needed a system update in order to play - why it couldn't pop up a notification of that, I don't know. Once I updated my the wii's system firmware it read and played the disc just fine. Just thought I'd put this out there in case any one else is having the same problems.

Wii Battery Kit - Colors May Vary
I bought two of these because I have 4 controllers and bought the charger as well which gives me rechargeable batteries for all of them. It saves money on batteries and avoids having to throw away the batteries. lasts longer than regular rechargeable batteries and it is easy and fast to charge. No need to look for batteries for the controllers and you can always have some charging. Very happy with this product!!!

Inspiring

Post Via amazon in Wii Games Review

No More Heroes
I'm an old school RPG gamer and still working on games from the early 90's. This is one of the first next-gen games I gave a shot, partially because of the price and partially because of the reviews.

Let's just say, to me, this game is amazing. I would like to disagree with the critical reviews in every way.

The graphics work great for the game; they are an anime style most people will enjoy. The shading is also very colorful contrary to the reviews.

The level of gore IS a lot more extreme than Resident Evil or House of the Dead, both of which I played long before this game. Also there is a lot of cussing....

The game play is much more complex than flinging the remote around. You attack high and low, you stun high and low, you recharge your weapon, you block high and low, you dodge enemy attacks high and low, you use finishing moves, and you use throwing moves. The controls are simple, but when you play long enough, battle is a complex and rewarding experience.

The game, in general, is about the main character wanting to become the best assassin. He is the 11th best assassin and must kill the top 10 to be the best. The boss battles are the 10 top assassins and there are plenty of enemies in between. Between boss battles you need to complete missions and earn money. With the money you can train and develop your character.

Over all, this game is a lot of fun, complex combat, good story and dialog, and tons of gore. I would recommend this to any fan of action games.

Love to guitar hero play with my teenage daughter

Post Via amazon in Wii Accessories Review

Wii Les Paul Wireless Guitar
I found something that my teenage daughter still likes to do with me!
We are even teaching grandma how to play. We can play for a quick 5 minutes or for 3 hours. We can play individually, as a team, or competitively. We can pack it up and take it with us, play it on the big screen or down in the playroom. There's no cussing, no blood and guts, and no sex! It is just good, clean fun, family style. I just wish Wii had more games - and I am not that thrilled with the upcoming Aerosmith game. I like them, but they are not my fave. I am sure it will be fun anyway because I will know most of the songs.

This a game that the whole family can play together, as with many other Wii games. I love it!

Overly touchy to controller response

Post Via amazon in Wii Games Review

Mx Vs ATV Untamed
The concept of this game seemed cool, but my boyfriend and I both tried it, although he did better then my, we both felt that the games response to the controller was too touchy, it made game play totally unenjoyable for me, the slightest little move on my nunchuck and the bikes were all over, I basically had to let go of the gas to even get around turns well, and even then it was still next to impossible. Although we have not had our Wii long, this is the first game I have played and just REALLY been unhappy with it, this game underplays what great ground breaking Nintendo has done with the wireless remote and virtual play.

Best sports game... ever?

Post Via amazon in Wii Games Review

MLB Power Pros
I was nervous when I bought this game a few months ago. I couldn't get past the assumptions that the visual style led me to make, and I was too used to games that claimed the amount of options and depth I had read about Power Pros possessing falling short of my expectations because they either bogged you down in menus and options, or playing the actual game would just be dreadful.

After playing this game though... It is amazing. I would honestly be content to never purchase another sports game for the rest of my life as long as I could keep Power Pros.

The visual style is so simple, yet every player is immediately recognizable and complete with his own unique actions in the field and at the plate.

The controls (aside from some awkward base running commands that take a little bit to get used to) are simple enough that you can easily pick them up the first time you play, but there is still enough going on that you feel rewarded for practicing as well.

I was worried that this game, like other cartoony baseball games would lack in game options for things like pinch runners, pinch hitters, shifting the outfield and infield etc. But that is not the case at all. This really is the deepest, most customizable, sports game I have ever played.

The bulk of game modes is overwhelming quite honestly. You can set up batting or fielding practice for just about any game situation you can imagine, either by doing batting practice against a particular pitch (type, location, and velocity) that is giving you trouble, or by specifying the power and trajectory of a hit and putting runners on the bases (if you so choose) to work on outfield assists or turning double plays.

The simulation elements are perfect as well, as they provide a wide array of stats, and once again give you options to tweak just about anything on your team. I found the ability to halt a simulated game, enter to bat for one player (or longer if you so choose), and then resume the simulation particularly enticing, as it gives you the ability to play through a season as a single player. Of course, controlling everything from the top as a GM is another option (and you can choose any combination of playing and simulating the games, as with most sports games), you can create your own team (complete with created players), re-arrange the divisions... pretty much anything you would like to do, there is a way to do it in Power Pros.

If the game had stopped here, I would still give it 5 stars. But there is quite literally a second game worth of content in success mode. In this mode you start as a first year college player with 3 years to earn a minor league contract. However, you have to strike a balance between several elements of your life along the way. I was afraid that after playing through this mode once or twice it would become akin to beating a dead horse, and just a really long winded way of creating a player. But that is not the case at all. I have played through Success mode in excess of 30 times, and I am STILL finding new story lines. It would be impossible for me to convey how funny parts of the success mode story are, or how addictive it can be (the reason I keep playing is that I want to win back to back championships AND beat the 'secret opponent' you face if you win the championship in your third year. I have come within 1 run of a repeat, but it still eludes me!).

On top of all of this, Power Pros tracks everything you do from the moment you start playing. I find this fascinating just because some of my personal stats are just bizarre... like how much better I do with a left handed batter than a right handed batter, when I myself bat right handed.

The only gripe I have about Power Pros, is the limited minor league system in the dynasty mode. There are plenty of options in the dynasty mode that make up for this (such as getting to specify what individual players practice, the ongoing process of upgrading their skills etc.), but after playing other baseball games over the last couple of years, I have gotten used to having a full minor league system to use for trades and player development.

To sum everything up: Power Pros is enjoyable to every type of video game player and baseball fan. The guy who knows nothing about the sport and has little experience playing baseball video games will catch on just as quickly as the hardcore sports gamer. Unlike most games that fit that description though, Power Pros also contains the options, game modes, and stat tracking abilities that hardcore sports gamers live for.

For us old games, this is the Future...

Post Via amazon in Wii Games Review

Pro Evolution Soccer 2008
I am 33y old and played the game for couple hours with my younger brother in-law and we both loved it. That game remind me the earlier PC games on various systems (Atari, Commodore 64, Amstrad 6128, spectrum, etc) where the game play was the first reason on buying/playing a game and not the graphics.

It is revolutionary the way you manage your team. Definitely takes time to be familiar but the tutorials are excellent to guide you on anything you need to know about this game.

That is not the game that you can pick up and play correct right away without going through the tutorial but is challenging and difficult enough to push you further on learning and become better on it.

If you are NOT a big fan of soccer games then my suggestion is to check some youtube videos or rent it from a video store before buying it. Definitely you'll be surprised.

My final verdict for that game is 100% awesome and you'll love it.

so much game, need more time to play

Post Via amazon in Wii Games Review

Pro Evolution Soccer 2008
What a great game -- I just got it yesterday and spent way too much time last night trying to get all the nuances down. I don't really care about graphics, I care about fun -- and this game is FUN!
Besides being fun, it is the most tactically correct soccer game I have ever encountered. Figuring out where to place players for runs into the box, perfecting give and go passes, etc. -- it is all there! If you are a soccer (football) fan, go buy this game!!!
